Our Metals

Meg Maskell Fine Jewellery pieces are handcrafted in our in house workshop using only solid precious metals.

While many recognise the importance of ethically sourced gemstones and diamonds, we believe the same care must extend to the metals that we use. That's why all of our gold, platinum and silver is sourced exclusively from trusted Australian suppliers who are members of the Responsible Jewellery Council. This ensures every piece of metal we use meets the highest standards of ethical sourcing and responsible production, values that are at the heart of everything we do.

As a proudly Australian business we follow the local gold and platinum standards, which are 9ct/375, 18ct/750 and Platinum 950. Our gold is available in Yellow, Rose or White.

Both our 9ct and 18ct White Golds have a high platinum content, giving them a nice white finish, and are Rhodium plated. Platinum is a naturally bright white and will not need to be plated.

Our Silver pieces are made with Nickel free Sterling Silver/925. We also work in 14ct/585 Gold upon request.

It is very normal for gold and silver jewellery to tarnish. This can occur due to your skin’s acidity, particular creams/makeup, storage conditions or contact with chemicals. Gold and Silver jewellery can easily be cleaned either with a polishing cloth or professionally cleaned here at the boutique.

We recommend all engagement rings and wedding bands are brought back once every 12 months under our included care package to keep them looking their best. During this process the metal is cleaned and polished, while white gold items are also re-rhodium plated.
